Consumed by soul music from the beginning, immersed in US vocal groups, specialising in doo wop but also very interested in R&B and blues artists - that's Peter Gibbon. Bitten by the discography bug in the early 60s, he was further infected by Oxford contemporary Trevor Churchill. Over the years, he has been a contributor to numerous publications and is now Ace's discographer in residence. He is also keeper of the tape database, the method by which we keep track of the tens of thousands of tracks that we own or lease for issue on the Ace stable of labels. Still amazingly a Burnley supporter, Peter lives near the Thames in a listed Queen Anne cottage. It is full, of course, not only of discography folders and vinyl but also the 1000s of 8-track tapes that he thought represented a durable format when he was based in the New York Area in the mid-70s.
