In 1975, The Kings of British Doo Wop were Rocky Sharpe & The Razors (they subsequently split into Rocky Sharpe & The Replays and The Darts). Starting out at The Arlington in Brighton, they moved to the Richmond, then to regular spots in London - first at Fulham's The Golden Lion, then at The Nashville Rooms in West Kensington -building an enthusiastic following along the way. Commercial success was rather more elusive. At that time, major record companies were interested in "original" material that cult revival bands did not provide. In spite of appearances on Radio London and London Weekend Television and a tour of Holland, the "Big Time" remained just over the horizon. The shift from semi-pro to full-time never came and the curtain finally closed on The Razors on 18 June 1976. Chiswick captured the 10-piece band in their prime, immortalised on these 1975 recordings, 10 of which are previously unissued titles. Razor sharp!
