The BGP 45 series returns with five of the most sought-after titles from the world of funk clubbing – records that would set you back several thousand pounds to collect as originals. All in all a pretty damn good 2011 selection of BGP on 45.
S.O.U.L.’s ‘Burning Spear’ was a standout of their debut album, from which it was pulled for a single release. Edited down from the album’s rambling brilliance to a concise slice of dancefloor funkiness, deejays have been searching out the 45 for years – it seems to have sold almost zero, making copies impossible to find. For the B-side we have selected the breakbeat heavy ‘Do Whatever You Want To Do’ from their second LP, which we feel would be a choice selection for anyone who wants to get a dancefloor moving.
