The recordings of the specialist guitar label, Kicking Mule, continues with Dale Miller's debut album-.-Finger Picking Rags & Other Delights (KMCD 3904) first released in 1975. When Miller recorded for the label, with the help of producer Ed Denson, he wasn't sure how far the album would reach or whether it would sell at all. Within 2 years of release his album had sold out, reaching the hands of fans from Tokyo to Toronto. In the ensuing years, Miller received letters from all over the world, from fans who were bootlegging their copies and pleading to know when the album would be reissued. For all those fans, the 20-year wait is over. Miller recorded several other albums after this debut effort and his style continued to mature and relax, but none sold as well as this release. Taking a retrospective look at his work in the sleevenotes, he says about his first album: "I must admit it has a certain freshness, charm and enthusiasm...it is certainly the recording I put the most energy into and I think it has been something of a trendsetter." Miller's eclectic choice of material and mellow finger picking style with its moving bass lines and ringing treble, still resonate well after all this time.
