Music For Your Mother (MP3) Funkadelic

Catalogue Id:
DVSEW2 055

The tale of a group of 1950s doowop wannabees mutating into the funkster supremos of the '70s, Funkadelic's story begins at the beginning (as do all good stories) with the birth of one George Clinton in Kannapolis, North Carolina. The story hasn't ended yet but for years their spirit has been heaven-knows-where beyond space and time.

Music For Your Mother spills the Cosmic lowdown on the group who took it to the bridge (only the bridge was on Jupiter or Mars) and includes all the A and B-sides of every Funkadelic single released during the P-Funk Mob's tenure with Detroit's Westbound label from 1969 to 1976. 33 tracks in all including Music For My Mother, Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On. Undisco Kidd, How Do Yeaw View You, I Got A Thing You Got A Thing Everybody Got A Thing, I f You Don't Like The Effects Don't Produce The Cause and Fish Chips And Sweat. Two tracks scheduled for release as Westbound W149 but previously unissued - Can't Shake It Loose and As Good As I Can Feel - see the light of day for the first time. Also included here are many 'B' sides not available on album before. Rob Bowman's exhaustive sleeve notes tell the band's intriguing story in the detail it deserves, suffice to say here Funkadelic's music is some of the most unique and gifted, crossing with impunity the boundaries of Black Music and Rock and all the genres and eras that those two encompass.

Renewed interest in Funkadelic and all associated bands has encouraged us to make this stonking new collection available on all three formats - so the choice is yours! Funkadelic would go on to score with One Nation Under A Groove on Warner Brothers, but the period that Music For Your Mother covers is one of the major chapters in the continuing musical odyssey of their GROOOOOVE Thang.
