Pleasure

This Portland, Oregon based funk group were pretenders to the crown of popular jazz influenced funk groups worn by the likes of Earth Wind and Fire and the Blackbyrds. Discovered by The Crusaders’ Wayne Henderson after a tip-off from Grover Washington Jr, they recorded six fantastic albums for Fantasy Records from 1975 until 1980. Their biggest hit was the electro funk ‘Glide’ from their fifth album “Future Now”, but today they are remembered for the bold funk statements of their earlier releases. ‘Bouncy Lady’ from their debut “Dust Yourself Off” is a well used hip hop break, and ‘Joyous’ is one of the foundation stones of modern dance, a massive record in the clubs on release and ever since.
