Welcome to our world is an autobiographical album from a very gifted singer/songwriter Arthur John Kitchener.
Starting with track 1 “Welcome To Our World (Slight Return)”. A reflection of the street songs and poems from Arthur’s early years when Arthur wrote and performed with ska and punk bands in the early 1980s. A prophetic look at life for many people today.
The first five songs - tracks 1 to 5 - are a reflection from the dark side of Arthur’s life moving through alcoholism in track 3 “A Double Shot” and drug addiction in “Billy No Mates” in track 4. The first side of the album finishes with “The Candyman” on track 5. The only song in a minor key; the drug dealer…
Tracks 6 to 10 are the light side of the album opening with “Ron’s Mandolin”; a song dedicated to Ron Kavana. A gifted Irish musician who like Dion had a massive influence on Arthur’s life. The album journeys through to track 7 and on to the 12-step program that saved his life.Track 8 “The Searcher” is a very powerful song of reflection and the many paths Arthur tried to change the way he felt.
The last two tracks that can only be described as beautiful songs are Arthur’s realization and belief in a higher power. The album impressed Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legend - Dion (The Wanderer) so much that he added this quote:
I’m loving the album so much. You’re so relaxed. Everything sounds so rich… Your Guitar... Your Voice… Very Intimate. Great Work! DION
