Dion

Dion DiMucci’s career has taken in many musical genres over some 55 years, all of which are represented in Ace’s extensive catalogue of his work. Recording initially with the Belmonts, he produced some of the hottest white doo wop sounds including the killer ‘I Wonder Why’. Turning solo, he had early 60s rock hits with ‘Runaround Sue’, ‘The Wanderer’ and others before moving to a successful mellower approach later in the decade, alongside some fine blues recordings. His 70s work harked back to his musical roots and included the album “Born To Be With You”, produced by Phil Spector. The 1980s saw him cutting a series of gospel albums, before 1989’s fine “Yo Frankie”, which had New York solidly in its DNA. His more recent work includes the excellent “Deja Nu”, effectively a musical autobiography. Throughout his career, in whichever genre he has chosen to work, Dion has maintained quality and attitude in his performance and choice of material.
