We dig into our own past here with the 2nd album from Sniff'n'The Tears, the most successful of the bands on Chiswick Records (1975-1984 - resurrected 1989). Steve Lipson who had engineered the band's debut Fickle Heart CDWIKM 9) was elevated to the production seat and did a fine job on the varied selection of material. The title track 'The Games Up' and 'One Love' fitted nicely into the Sniff mould, but 'Poison Pen Mail' with it's slight accompaniment and slightly creepy lyric was something of a stylistic departure and a high point of the album. The epic 'Rodeo Drive' named after a high class shopping mall in Beverly Hills California rounded off an album that successfully negotiated the 'second album syndrome' that many lesser bands fell into. It still sounds fresh and original 10 years later.
